The Company is dedicated to accelerating the use of solar energy in mainstream North American markets. Based in Waterloo, Ontario, the Company has a value added distribution network of solar energy dealers across Canada and utilizes its engineering expertise for consulting services, systems integration applications and the development of proprietary technologies. The Company is commercializing proprietary solar energy components including a patented thin-film solar cell technology that is being developed in partnership with the University of Toronto. Corporate ProfileARISE is dedicated to accelerating the use of solar energy in mainstream North American energy markets. Our strategy to achieve this and profitability is to: 1. Use our renewable energy systems engineering core-competence to strengthen or develop our leadership position in the following three market segments:
2. Accelerate the commercialization of our proprietary photovoltaic (PV) technology with our partners; University of Toronto and Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) focusing on low cost solar cells to be sold to module manufacturers. 3. Be a catalyst to build a dedicated Canadian silicon feedstock facility with major partners to supply PV cell and module manufacturers plus provide ARISE with a secure silicon supply. 4. Find partners for, or sell all of the other technology and products that we have developed. ARISE has eleven years experience with all aspects of solar energy. Since 2001, ARISE has been developing a next generation high efficiency photovoltaic (PV) technology with the University of Toronto and is currently building a C$70M PV cell manufacturing plant in Germany with a C$35M grant from the German government to produce this technology. ARISE implemented Canada's first grid-connected solar subdivision in 2003 with funding from the Canadian government. ARISE has been working on silicon for high efficiency PV applications since 2004 and was awarded a C$6.5M grant commitment from the Canadian government in 2006 to fund a C$20M PV silicon plant in partnership with the University of Waterloo and other consortium members. In the Canadian markets, ARISE continues to expand its Systems Operation with a focus on the Ontario PV feed in tariff program. The company trades in Toronto on the TSX under the symbol APV and in Frankfurt under the symbol A3T. |
